Summer Basketball Ends with Championship Games

The High School summer basketball league at Columbia-Greene Community College wrapped up this past week.  The semi-finals and finals took place on Wednesday for the girls.  The first semi-final game was between #1 Hudson and #4 FDR. It was a close one all the way through as FDR upset Hudson by a score of 28 – 22 to make it to the championship game. The other semi-final featured an upset as well as #3 Greenville defeated #2 Saugerties White 33 – 31 in another close game. This set up for a championship matchup between #4 FDR and #3 Greenville.  The championship game took place at 8 pm and was a close one all the way through.  Greenville would be crowned the 2017 Girls Summer League Champions after defeating FDR by two points, 33 – 31.   

 
On Thursday it was the high school boys turn to play.  Things got started with a semi-final game between #1 Catskill and #5 Saugerties.  Saugerties kept the score close but Catskill would eventually run away with it and earn a spot in the championship game by a score of 65 – 56.  The second semi-final game was between #2 Hudson and #3 Germantown.  Germantown was looking for the upset but would fall short by a score of 47 – 42.  This put #2 Hudson in the championship game against rival #1 Catskill.  Catskill would run up the score and run away with the game winning by 30 points, 57 – 27.  Catskill was crowned the 2017 Boys Summer League Champions.
